HK Farm offers a rare and irreplaceable heritage along with southern charm
and hospitality. The record indicates in 1869, Handy Kennedy purchased 175
acres from Lewis Cobb, 3.5 miles from what is now Cobbtown. Before Handy’s
death in 1922, he and his wife Elizabeth owned a total of 190 acres.
Handy’s son, Marsthon Kennedy, purchased an additional 1710 acres to total 1900
acres. Before Marsthon death in 1966, he and his wife Mamie sold 1000 acres of
the 1900 acres to their son and his wife, Handy Kennedy Sr, and Milton Jane
(M.J.). They then inherited another 60 acres in 1966. Today, HK Farm consists of
1060 acres and is managed by their 12 children and families, in which farm
products, recreational activities, and hunting opportunities are offered.
